TypesHolotype: MZUF 2587, a 998 mm male (G. Scortecci, autumn 1953). 
Diagnosis 
CommentDistribution: see map in Yadollahvandmiandoab at al. 2022: Fig. 3. 
EtymologyNamed after Prof. Giuseppe Scortecci, 1898-1973, Italian herpetologist and the collector of the type. Lanza does not comment on why he uses “joseph” in the name.
