Type locality: Balzapote, municipality of San Andrés Tuxtla, Veracruz, México, 100 m elevation.

TypesHolotype: CAR-EBTT (= IBH-LT = UNAM-LT) 1796. Collected by: Gonzalo Perez-Higareda; Collection Date: August 1983 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Similar to S. sanniola but with a lineate instead of blotched pattern, and 20 uv. 23-26 dentary teeth. (Perez-Higareda et al. 2002) 
CommentHabitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after the Latin word linearis, meaning "of a line."
