TypesHolotype: UMMZ 89078
DiagnosisDiagnosis (stadelmani): Dorsal scale rows 19, ventrals 179-191 in females, dark brown or black stripe on scale row six, seven, or eight usually present; all surfaces of hemipenial base spinose, 12-16 maxillary teeth [MENDELSON & KIZIRIAN 1995].
CommentSynonymy: Myers 1974 synonymized R. stadelmani with R. hempsteadae. He justified this with the observation that the holotype of hempsteadae is an adult male whereas the name Rhadinaea stadelmani is based on a juvenile female. MENDELSON & KIZIRIAN 1995 resurrected stadelmani for populations in the Sierrade los Cuchumatanes and Montafiasde Cuilco, in northwestern Guatemala. MYERS 2011 still doesn’t list stadelmani in his list of Rhadinella, so it’s status is still a bit unclear.

Similar species: Rhadinella hempsteadae.
EtymologyNamed after the collector of the types, Raymond Stadelman. For biographical notes see Brown 2021.
