Type locality: Indefatigable Is. = Santa Cruz Island.

TypesHolotype: CAS 10795, male (J.R. Slevin, 16 Jan. 1906). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: No scale-pits; scales in 19 rows; gastrosteges 169 to 180; urosteges 96 to 114; longitudinal light stripes present [from VAN DENBURGH 1912].

EtymologyNamed after Franz Steindachner (1834-1919), Austrian zoologist. Obituary in Pietschmann (1919).
