Diagnosis 
CommentHas been considered as a synonym of O. doliatus before it was revalidated by ZAHER & CARAMASCHI 2000.

EtymologyNamed after Ellwood C. Erdis (1867-1944), the chiefengineer of the National Geographic Society and Yale University Peruvian expedition (1912), during which the snake holotype was collected.
