Type locality: Mountain, north of Kiu Kiang (Jiujiang Shi), Chang jiang River, Jiangsi Province, China.

CommentSynonymy after SMITH 1943: 206

Behavior: nocturnal.

Distribution: not in Guangxi fide JIANG et al. 2012. Reported from Bhutan by Wangyal et al. 2021 but most likely not O. chinensis, but some other Oligodon (F. Tillack, pers. comm. 20 March 2021). 
EtymologyNamed after its distribution in China.
