Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: L. (d.) kennedyi is considered by some authors as a color morph of L. diadema.

Subspecies: Lytorhynchus diadema gaddi is often considered as a valid species, as it is here.

Type species: Heterodon diadema DUMÉRIL, BIBRON & DUMÉRIL 1854: 779 is the type species of the genus Lytorhynchus PETERS 1862.

Key: Leviton 1970, 1977 presents a key to the species of Lytorhynchus.
