Diagnosis 
CommentSubspecies: Lycodon subcinctus sealei LEVITON 1955 has been elevated to full species. Anoplophallus maculatus COPE 1895 has been removed from the synonymy of L. subcinctus and revalidated.

For a discussion of nomenclatorial issues concerning the genera Lycodon and Ophites see Zhao & Adler (who listed this species under Ophites). Juveniles can be confused with the dangerous Bungarus candidus.

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018).

Distribution: not in Borneo fide Das 2023.
